Sorry if a lot of this is pointless information or if the decision really doesn't matter, no matter what I get it's gonna be about $3k and I'm scared to make a mistake at that price. I'm not sure what to go with because I trust both of them □ I'd appreciate any input from people who switched from either side or have some kind of in depth technical knowledge about either side. If the hardware is very similar between the computers, how different will everything run based on the OS?Ī few other notes, I have a producer friend who is a PC advocate and he's been pushing the Windows side in favor of power and user control, and I have a friend/mentor who actually works for Avid on the Pro Tools audio team who's been pushing the Mac side in favor of stability. (Honestly haven't done this on my Mac but I need to)ĭoes Microsoft really force updates upon the user? This has to cause some issues if your products haven't updated, right?ĭoes the experience on Windows computers differ noticeably from manufacturer to manufacturer? Which computer would allow me to slim it down the most? Like removing unnecessary apps, and streamlining performance as much as possible. I know my Apollo would need an adapter to work, but how would anything else work switching from Mac to Windows? A few other questions I have are: My main question is would I have a negative experience switching from a Mac to a Windows computer in the near future? I've built my studio around my Mac, I have an Apollo Mk 3, use Pro Tools Ultimate, Slate Digital, NI Komplete and a suite of other plugins. No matter what side I go with I'd like an i9 laptop. In my research for a new machine I've been peeking over at the Windows side and I've been really impressed with some of what I'm seeing from Dell most of all, Razor, MSI, Lenovo. I'm starting to have battery issues, and the grey screen of death happens periodically. So I'm gearing up to invest in a new computer, my MacBook 2012 is obviously getting a bit older.
